PAD Mechanics: Gemstone-type actives

This mechanic guide will focus on active skills that provide MULTIPLIERS BASED ON AWAKENINGS.

Why are they called gemstone-type actives?

Where do I get them?

What cards use them?

How is the multiplier calculated?

What are the exclusions?

What about binds or other scenarios?

List available in NA

Why are they called gemstone-type actives?

The first actives to feature a multiplier that scaled based on awakenings was the Gemstone Series: Silk the Pigeon, Cameo the Frog, Carat the Panther, Facet the Snake, Sheen the Bat. They used to be featured regularly in the REM through Carnivals but those have since been removed.

Where do I get them?

The Gemstone Series itself can only be obtained from the Rank 500 Machine (a free roll given to you in the mail when you reach rank 500) or through various types of special REM events (Super Carnival, Director’s Carnival, All-Star Fest).

Alternatively, other similar actives have been featured in other monsters such as Azazel who is farmable.

What cards use them?

We’re talking about active skills read like such:

Carat

Azazel

Be careful on the reading of the awakening names in the game. Resistance-Dark refers to Blind Resist while what we know as Dark Resist is called Reduce Dark Damage in the game.

I’ll make a list at the end of this page that contains all the actives of this sort, what awakenings they use, and the multiplier.

How is the multiplier calculated?

The final multiplier is calculated as:

F = 1 + (m * a)

m = The multiplier added per awakening. (which unfortunately you would only know if you looked at the PADX / Skyo / PADGuide pages for the respective monsters or at the bottom of this page!)

a = The number of applicable awakenings on the team that CASTS THE ACTIVE SKILL. BE CAREFUL ON EXCLUSIONS.

For example, Carat is 0.3 multiplier per skill boost.

If you had 10 skill boosts on the team, you would have:

F = 1 + (0.3 * 10)

F = 1 + 3

F = 4x damage!

As you can see, they’re much stronger than your standard Norse (2x) and they apply to ALL MONSTERS ATTACKING, regardless of attribute / type.

When used, the buff icon will appear as such where the number corresponds to the number of turns it is applied to.

As you can see, this buff is up for 2 turns. It is important to note that the buff DOES NOT CHANGE AFTER BEING USED. If the multiplier is calculated at 4x when using the skill, it will be 4x regardless of the turn count or player attacking.

What are the exclusions?

The awakenings only take into consideration the awakenings on the team that used the spike, including both leaders. That means that even if both players bring 10SB on subs, the resulting spike from Carat will not be F = 1 + (0.3 * 20) but instead be F = 1 + (0.3 * 10).

Latent awakenings and double awakenings do not count towards the multiplier. Double awakenings refers to the new set of awakenings that gives double the effect of the original.  is the double awakening version of  and will not count towards Carat’s active.

What about binds or other scenarios?

Monster binds do have an impact on the gemstone-type multipliers. Awakening binds from monsters and awakenings-invalid dungeons will result in the active skill being unusable. If the active skill is used before the awakening bind, the spike will not be effected.
